Britton gets 30 years for child abuse

A Vaiden man faces a 30-year sentence after pleading guilty of felony child abuse.
Frederick M. Britton, 42, was arrested on April 4, 2022, after authorities conducted a welfare check on a residence on Mississippi Highway 51 near Vaiden, according to a statement released by Carroll County Sheriff Clint Walker.

Woman takes police on high-speed chase

A Winona woman is in the Grenada County Jail after a high-speed chase with police.
Winona police reported to a domestic call at a home in the 100 block of Hazel Circle around 1 a.m. on Sept. 23, according to a statement release by Police Chief Roshaun Daniels.

Supervisors accept bid for CR 64 bridge repair

The Carroll County Sheriff’s investigation into the Sept. 11 bridge fire on County Road 64 has led authorities to area teens.
First responders reported to the bridge fire in the McCarley area behind Bailey Lake that morning, according to an earlier statement released by Sheriff Clint Walker.
