It’s that time of year again – Carrollton Pilgrimage and Pioneer Day.
The theme for this year’s festivities is “Good Old School Days Revisited,” according to Carrollton Mayor Pam Lee.
The two-day events will kick off at 9 a.m. on Friday when home tour tickets go on sale at Pilgrimage Headquarters in Carrollton Town Hall at 701 Lexington Street, according to the 2023 Carrollton Pilgrimage tour guide.
Historic homes, churches and buildings will be open for tours beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday, and Carrollton Baptist Church will host a chicken spaghetti lunch at noon, the guide stated.
Area visitors will be able to visit a cornucopia of sites during the tour, including Bank of Commerce, Carrollton Baptist Church, Carrollton Community House, Carrollton Courthouse, Carrollton Presbyterian Church, Masonic Lodge and Merrill Museum.
Festivities will kick off at 7 a.m. on Saturday with a pancake breakfast at the Carrollton Masonic Lodge, and at 9 a.m., “Good Old School Days” registration opens in the Carrollton Courthouse hallway for everyone attending the county-wide class reunions.
Tours will continue at 9 a.m. on Saturday along with the opening of the Pioneer Day festival, which will include arts and crafts, food, exhibits and music from local talent.
Entertainers filling the square with an assortment of melodies will be Just Friends, Wilton Neal, Bear Marsh M.B. Church Choir, The Como Sisters and The Cobbins Brothers.
Carrollton Pilgrimage and the Pioneer Day Festival will wrap with a Good Old School Days street party on the courthouse square from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday.
