Carroll Sweeps Benton

The Carroll Academy basketball teams finished off the regular season with a sweep of Benton last week.

The Lady Rebels needed a big fourth period to take a 35-28 win over the Lady Raiders while the Rebels got another double-double from Reese Fulton to take a 64-49 win over the Raiders.

Jags prepping for league games

J.Z. George began a stretch of six straight Region 3-3A games Tuesday as it played host to Ruleville Central High School.

The Lady Jags and Jaguars both need to get hot to improve their positioning for the upcoming district tournament. The girls were 0-4 in league play before Tuesday's home tilt, while the boys were 1-3 in district.

Rebs, Lady Rebs pick up district wins

Each of the Carroll Academy teams were able to pick up a win in district play this past week.

The Carroll Academy boys beat Central Holmes 43-39 but lost 66-39 to Marshall. The Lady Rebels beat Marshall 43-36 but lost 47-37 to Central Holmes.

Tigers pick up region win against Morton

The Winona boys basketball team rode a big first quarter and a strong game by Davandre Bays to its first region victory in nearly two years, 61-48 over Morton.
