The Carroll Academy basketball teams finished off the regular season with a sweep of Benton last week.
The Lady Rebels needed a big fourth period to take a 35-28 win over the Lady Raiders while the Rebels got another double-double from Reese Fulton to take a 64-49 win over the Raiders.
The Lady Rebels are the No. 2 seed in the District 1-AA Tournament and will take on host Winona at 4 p.m. on Thursday. If they win, they will advance to the championship game on Saturday at 4 p.m. The consolation game would be Saturday at 1 p.m.
The Rebels are the No. 3 seed in the tournament and will take on No. 2 seed Oak Hill on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. The boys championship game is Saturday at 5:30 p.m. while the boys consolation game is Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
Carroll boys 64, Benton 49
The Rebels ended the season with a 15-point win over the Raiders last week.
The Rebels had to battle from behind as Benton took a 21-7 lead in the first period. But the Rebels outscored the Raiders 22-13 in the second period to cut the lead to 34-29 at the half. The Rebels continued the comeback in the second half as they outscored the Raiders 20-9 in the third to take a 49-43 lead into the fourth. The Rebels finished off the game by outscoring the Raiders 15-6.
Reese Fulton added another double-double to his impressive season with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Logan Taylor had a big game with 18 points while Morgan Mims added 10 points. Cooper Beck also had six points and also pulled down 15 rebounds.
Carroll girls 35, Benton 28
The Lady Rebels broke open a close game in the fourth period to take a hard-fought seven-point win.
Benton led 5-4 at the end of the first and each team scored 10 points in the second as the Lady Raiders led 15-14 at the half. After each team scored nine points in the third and Benton led 24-23 going into the fourth. The Lady Rebels pulled away in the fourth as they outscored the Lady Raiders 12-4 to take the win.
Sandi Rhea Tackett led Carroll with 16 points while Gracie Turner had nine rebounds. Mary Jordan Milton also had six rebounds for the Lady Rebels.
