The J.Z. George girls fast-pitch softball team extended its winning streak to five with a sweep of its three opponents last week.
The Lady Jags began the week with a 17-2 victory at Leake Central Monday. J.Z. George scored nine runs in the first, one in the second, five in the third and two in the fourth. Leake scored one run each in the second and third innings.
Saralyn Roberts got the win in the circle, allowing both runs on one hit, striking out eight. She had a single and double, driving in two runs.

The Winona High School tennis team opened region play with a 6-1 win over Noxubee County last Thursday at Noxubee.
Leo Guzman won his boys singles match 6-1, 6-2 over Noxubee’s John Lee, and the No. 1 boys doubles team of Ben Rosamond and Brayden Flowers defeated Byron and Mario Sanders 6-2, 6-2. In No. 2 boys doubles, Gunner
Wilkes and Ethan Green beat Noxubee’s Ashton Barber and Maury Austin 6-1, 6-0.

Students in the K2 class enjoyed a memorable surprise this week as part of the school’s celebration of Dr. Seuss Week. Mrs. Shonni Montgomery and Mrs. Rachel Latham paid a special visit to the classroom for story time, bringing along a very special guest—a baby lamb.
The visit gave students the chance to experience storytelling in a unique and exciting way. As the class gathered to listen, the baby lamb quickly became the star of the morning, capturing the children’s attention and sparking curiosity and excitement.
