Funeral services for Rilda Ann Coleman Moore of McCarley were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24 in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following at Oakwood Cemetery in Winona. The Rev. Bobby Palmertree officiated the services. Pallbearers were Allan Moore, Brian Brasher, and Parker Lipscomb.
Visitation was held Tuesday, March 24 from noon until service time at Oliver Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Mann Bailey, of McCarley, were held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, at McCarley Baptist Church, with the burial following at Coila Cemetery. The Rev. Lanny Haley will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Jerry Shaw, Gil Shaw, Jeremy Johnson, Jon Johnson, Josh Howard, and Bailey Howard. Her great-grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Visitation was held Sunday, March 22, from 3 p.m. until service time at McCarley Baptist Church.

A memorial service for Mr. Bobby Gene Barnhill, of Winona, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 28, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Billy Little and Rev. Randy Bridges will officiate the service. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Barnhill passed away Sunday, March 8, at the age of 60. He was born in Kilmichael on May 20, 1965, to Ronald and Emma Whitemore Barnhill. Bobby worked for Waugh and Waugh Logging and Trucking for the past eight years as a truckdriver. He attended Mission Baptist Church in Winona.

Rosemary was born on October 12, 1935, in Winona, to Shed and Claudia Castle. As an only child, she was dearly loved and, by all accounts, delightfully spoiled.
After graduating with honors from Winona High School, she attended MCW before transferring to Mississippi State College, where she met her future husband, Nelson Douglass. During her time at State, she was a member of Chi Omega, was named a Class Favorite, and was actively involved in numerous campus organizations. She graduated in 1956 with a degree in Education.

Jerry Mack Burns, 88, of Brandon, Mississippi, passed away on December 12, 2025.
Born on June 27, 1937 to the late Roy E. Burns and Ruth Jackson Burns. He was a devoted son who cared deeply for his parents throughout his life.
Jerry proudly served four years in the United States Marine Corps, a chapter of his life that reflected his discipline and commitment to his country.

Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Williams & Lord Funeral Home and services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday in chapel. The Rev. Butch Kelly officiated. Burial will be in Odd Fellows East Cemetery.

Betty Jean Burton Arinder, 63, of Flora, joined her Heavenly Father on March 11. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Betty was born on September 22, 1962, in Winona, to Bobbie Burton McGarrity and Tommy Wayne Burton. She and her younger sister, Penny Godwin attended Winona High School, where Betty graduated as salutatorian in 1980.

Funeral services for Margaret Ingram Patten, of Vicksburg, was held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, at Scotland Baptist Church in Winona, with burial followed in the church cemetery. The Rev. Brian Ivey and Rev. D.W. Feaster officiated the services. Serving as pallbearers were her nephews and honorary pallbearers were her church family of Highland Baptist Church in Vicksburg.

James Walter Hazlewood “Jim,” age 90, a longtime resident of Winona, passed away peacefully on Monday, Feb. 16, surrounded by family at the home of his daughter in Senatobia. He was a devoted son, husband, and father, as well as a loving grandfather and friend and will be greatly missed.
Jim was born in Gibson County, Humboldt, Tenn., to Maurice and Inez Hazlewood. He married Betty Bennett on Dec. 21, 1958, in Trenton, Tenn.

Mr. Joseph Steve "Stevie" Burrell, of Winona, passed away Sunday, March 1, at the age of 63. He was born in Durant to Joe and Helen Burns Burrell on February 3, 1963. Stevie was a general contractor. He lived life to the fullest. Earlier in life, he enjoyed fishing whenever he had the chance.
He is survived by his brothers, Kenneth Burrell (Marc Harrell) of Kansas City, Joe "Bozie" Burrell Jr. (Melody) of Winona, and Joseph Albin Burrell of Jackson, and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Janice Marie James, 58, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 25, at her residence in Vaiden. She was born on March 15, 1967 to Bud and Betty Nelms King. She worked as a production scheduler at John Richards Collection in Greenwood and was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church near Vaiden.

Clara was born March 13, 1929 to Samuel Patrick Caffey and Lillian Easley Kirk Caffey. She graduated from Winona High School in 1949 and married the love of her life, Albert Clyde Dotson, Jr., in August of that same year.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Patrick and Lillian Caffey; her husband, Albert Clyde Dotson, Jr.; her sisters, Christine Adams and Inez Rice; her brothers, W.E. Caffey, Howard Caffey, Hammond Caffey, Pat Caffey, Jr., Leroy Caffey, Winston Caffey, Erwin Caffey, Johnny Caffey, Kirk Caffey, and Hugh Curry Caffey.

Mrs. Ruth Yates King, age 102, passed away on Monday, February 23, surrounded by her family. A devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, her life was defined by faith, hard work, and deep love for her family.
Ruth was well-known in the community for her strong work ethic and dedication as the owner and operator of a family grocery store for 19 years. She found great joy in gardening, tending to her flowers, and watching the birds - simple pleasures that brought her happiness throughout her life.

Otis Wayne Makamson, 82, of Greenwood, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, at Golden Age Nursing Home. There will be family service at a later date.
Mr. Makamson was born September 21, 1943, in Alligator, to Otis Wilbur Makamson and Corrie Nail Makamson. He was of the Baptist faith. He worked in the restaurant business before retiring as manager of Three Rivers in Grenada. He is preceded in death by his sisters, Shirley Kelly, Margaret Sanders, and Patsy Peacock, and his parents.
He is survived by his sister, Joyce Randall of Stewart, and several nieces and nephews.
