Montgomery County is gearing up for the Christmas season, with plans for parades in Kilmichael, Winona, and Duck Hill underway.
In Kilmichael, the town is preparing for its 15th annual Christmas parade and lighting of the square on December 1. The parade will take place at 5 p.m., with the lineup on School Road beginning at 4:30 p.m. Organizers are asking participants to enter School Road from Highway 413.
Even if your church, school or organization has a float in another parade, that’s okay, organizers said any entry to another parade held prior to Kilmichael’s parade are allowed to bring their floats and entries and join the parade lineup. However, four-wheelers are not allowed.
Those who want to enter, should pick up an entry form at town hall or contact Alderman Charles Austin at 662-417-4221.
Organizers are asking participants to list the type or category for their entry on the form. And Kilmichael, the town that cares, wishes all are Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
In Winona, the parade will be on December 3, at 7 p.m. in downtown Winona. The parade route will be down Summit Street to Front Street to Magnolia Street. In order to be entered for judging, floats must represent the theme “Angels Among Us” in some form, those that do not will not be entered for judging.
Parade lineup will be at 5:30 p.m. No participants are allowed to enter from Highway 51. All participants are asked to come in from Middleton Road onto Mission Street.
Those who would like to participate in the parade or purchase an official parade t-shirt can pick up a form from City Hall or print one off from www.winonams.us. Entries must be hand delivered back to Winona City Hall or e-mailed to Deputy Assistant City Clerk Tiffany Everett at tiffany_everett@winonams.org or City Clerk June Williams at cityclerk@winonams.org. Forms must be turned in by Nov. 30.
In Duck Hill, the Christmas parade will be Saturday, December 8, a 2 p.m. Lineup will begin at 1:30. Plans for the parade are still being made. More information will be released when it is made available. For more information, contact Duck Hill Town Hall at 565-2351.
