Believers will come together in Winona on Saturday to lift their voices in faith during a Community Prayer Walk.
One of the event coordinators, Kynyardda Seals, said she hopes the walk will prove beneficial to the walkers as well as communities around the world.
“The purpose of the prayer walk is to help individuals become aware of the need for prayer. Some people don’t know how to pray,” said Seals, who has joined several prayer warriors from the area.
The many atrocities against people of all ages and from one cultural group to another ignited Seals’ passion to encourage others to join her in prayer to address the chaos plaguing society.
Seals said she wants to encourage others to open their hearts to each other and themselves and actually show love.
“This is bigger than me,” said Seals, who hosted a prayer breakfast last year. “This is something that was laid on my heart from God.”
Walkers will meet at Winona Community House on Sterling Street at 8 a.m. and travel to Summit Street. They will then turn onto Church Street, heading to Carrollton Avenue before strolling north on Front Street to Magnolia Street and returning to the Community House.
Seals said she hopes the community joins her and others in prayer lifting up each other, society and everyone who has lost someone and something in the March 24 tornado that ravaged Mississippi, taking 26 lives and laying waste to property.
