The Winona High School girls soccer team advanced to the second round of the Class I state tournament with an 8-1 win over Pelahatchie High School Thursday at Tiger Stadium.
The Lady Tigers (11-4) will take on Vardaman High School at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the second round. The winner moves on to play the winner of the Booneville-St. Andrew’s contest on Saturday in the third round.

The William Carey Baseball team closed out its weekend slate on Saturday afternoon with a 7–4 loss to Campbellsville at Milton Wheeler Field.
The Tigers wasted no time grabbing control, pushing across three runs in the opening inning. After Aanthony Esposito led off with a single, Antony Gilbert delivered an RBI double to left to start the scoring. Two batters later, Thomas Krueger added another RBI double, and Tyler Hummel capped the fast start with an RBI single, giving Campbellsville a 3–0 advantage.

POPLARVILLE, Miss. — No. 7 Pearl River softball made a statement Saturday afternoon, knocking off a pair of NJCAA Division I opponents to finish the Visit Panama City Beach JUCO Showdown 4-0.
The Wildcats defeated No. 12 Chattanooga State 8-2 before winning an 8-7 slugfest against No. 5 Wallace State – Hanceville.
"I am super proud of them," head coach Christie Meeks said. "We saw some things out of them today that we've been waiting to see for a while. Our dugout was electric; our team was electric — I'm just so proud.

POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Pearl River men's basketball travelled to Senatobia and walked away with a 94-82 victory over Northwest.
"They play an unusual style of play that we've really never seen in this league before," said head coach Chris Oney."We had to come up with a different game plan to make sure that we were able to attack the areas we felt we had advantages in. Tonight was the first time I felt good from start to finish in the way our guys were executing the game plan."

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. — The No. 7 Pearl River softball team kicked off the Visit Panama City Beach JUCO Softball Showdown in explosive fashion, belting five homeruns with 27 hits to defeat Coastal Alabama 8-2 and Andrew College 11-0.
"I am so proud of what our offense is able to do — coach Gruich does a fantastic job with them," head coach Christie Meeks said. "It's an advantage not only for our pitchers to work behind that offense, but to also get to face them on a daily basis as well."

PINEVILLE, La. – The William Carey Softball team opened its 2026 season in dominant fashion, rolling past Texas A&M–Victoria with a 14–0 run-rule victory highlighted by a no-hitter, before outlasting LSU–Alexandria in a thrilling 10-inning, 8–7 battle.
"What a day," said Head Coach Wendy Hogue. Our first game against a quality opponent was exactly what we needed to start the year. Anytime you can score 14 behind a no-hit performance from your pitcher, it's a good day. Defense played lights out and we had a great day at the plate."

Kayla Giardina got the start in the circle for the Golden Eagles and allowed a leadoff single before sitting down three straight Redhawks.
“We were really proud of Kayla coming out and setting a tone for us on the mound,” Southern Miss head coach Natalie Poole said. “After that, we were really able to see our offense get after it right away.”

The Hattiesburg Pocket Museum is proud to present Second Chances, a joyful and thought-provoking exhibit featuring sculptural artwork created by the students of Miss Erin Bilbo’s Petal Middle School art class.
Each piece in the exhibit began as broken or forgotten toys that would normally be thrown away. Instead of ending up in a landfill, the pieces were reimagined and transformed into imaginative characters, creatures, and scenes that celebrate creativity, problem solving, and fresh starts.
