POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Christian Gilliland (Memphis, Tenn.; ABC Prep) delivered a performance for the ages Wednesday night, scoring a season-high 39 points to lead Pearl River to a 78-70 win over Hinds. "Christian is incredible," Pearl River head coach Chris Oney said. "He's amazing when you watch him get in the air. He moves his body, gets into position and still finishes strong most of the time. I'd love to be able to watch him in a Pearl River uniform next year, but I know Siena is excited to get him."

By ROBBIE FAULK Winston Academy was back in action last week looking to get a big win over Starkville Academy, but the Volunteers brought the bats. The Patriots managed just eight hits and saw things unravel in the latter innings with pitching and defense as they would fall 10-0 in six innings. SA got its first run in the third inning and then started adding to it. After scoring two in the fourth and fifth innings, the Vols would break it open in the sixth and produce the run-rule win. WA was outhit 8-3.
