Authorities are investigating a death reported just after midnight involving a gunshot wound, according to Choctaw County officials.
The Weir Police Department and the Choctaw County Sheriff’s Office are jointly investigating the incident.
Choctaw County Coroner Chris Coleman said a 19-year-old male was transported to Choctaw Regional Medical Center after suffering a gunshot wound. Coleman said he was called to the hospital’s emergency room shortly after midnight, around 12 a.m.

Billy will be well remembered by his wife of 59 years, Cheryl Kay (White) Hunt, his sister, Betty Joyce (Hunt) Jardine, Moss Point, MS, S-I-L Victoria (Vickie) Lynn (Ridgeway) Hunt, Fountain Hills, AZ, grandchildren, Allison Marie Haug, Samantha Kay Haug, Ethan Forrest Haug, Abigail Renee Haug and Tyler James Hunt, nieces and nephews and numerous other family members and friends.
