You, along with millions of other American citizens may be wondering where those tense confrontations in Minneapolis came from. What brought those 3,000 ICE agents to the Twin Cities and the angry citizens into the streets?
Many different streams of action and policy flowed together to create the great river of violence and fear that is flowing through our nation today. Here is just one of those streams. Let me connect the dots as I see them.

The No. 2 Pearl River baseball team enters the 2026 season with unfinished business.
The Wildcats are coming off one of the most successful campaigns in program history, finishing as the National runner-up while winning the MACCC and Region 23 titles. While the run fell just short, head coach Michael Avalon believes last season provided valuable perspective — and motivation — for a roster that returns key pieces.

The Mississippi River is going to change course (avulse) to the Atchafalaya at the Old River Control Complex (ORCC) above Baton Rouge and discharge to the Gulf near Morgan City, LA. Gravity will send it down this shorter, steeper path in a big flood — maybe the next one. Course changes happen about every 1,000 years when the channel clogs up with silt, flow slows, and floods get higher. The last one happened around the 12th century.

Pictured are Kilmichael Alderman Matt Bennett and Republican candidate in Mississippi’s 2nd Congressional District Kevin Wilson at the Montgomery County Courthouse in Winona.
Kevin Wilson says he walked away from school after the 10th grade so he could work and help his struggling family, a decision that now anchors the life story he is taking to voters as a Republican candidate in Mississippi’s 2nd Congressional District.
