Employee recommendations approved for CCSD 2026-2027 school year

During the March board meeting, the Choctaw County School District approved employee recommendations for the 2026-2027 school year.
“I want to be clear that Mr. [Glen] Blaine is still the assistant superintendent and Mr. [Glen] Beard is the superintendent, and he signed off on these,” Trustee Nola Bryant asked.
“Yes, I did,” Beard said. “My initials are on there.”

WA Patriots look to rebound in the season

Spring Break was not kind to the Winston Academy Patriots as the baseball team went off to East Central Community College to play ball.
After dropping an 11-0 game to Wayne County and tying Union, WA was back to Decatur to take on Starkville Academy last Friday. It was the second meeting with the Volunteers this season for the Patriots, and this game turned out similarly to the 10-0 loss earlier this year.

Community Cleanup Day held in Greensboro, Zion Ridge, and New Zion

On Saturday, March 14, 2026, volunteers from Greensboro, Zion Ridge, and New Zion communities participated in a Community Cleanup Day. The event commenced at the Former Greensboro CME Church site, located at 2329 Metts Street in Louisville, MS, with an opening prayer for safety, followed by a morning briefing in which organizers assigned volunteer groups to designated roads and areas to pick up trash.

LHS Wildcats drop Spring Break doubleheader

Louisville had some Spring Break action on the baseball diamond last week as the Wildcats played a doubleheader last Friday.
It was a tough day at the ballpark for the Wildcats as they took a loss to Quitman and Meridian. The Wildcats got things started with a 9-8 loss to Quitman in four innings as they came back from an 8-4 deficit to beat LHS.

Bobby White Jr., 45, was arrested in Ackerman, Mississippi on March 17, 2026, after a fugitive investigation conducted by the U.S. Marshals Service. White Jr. was wanted by the Winston County Sheriff’s Department for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and attempted aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.

LMSD board reviews finances, leases and desegregation order

The Louisville Municipal School District Board of Trustees met March 5, approving routine financial matters, property leases and hearing a detailed legal update on the district’s longstanding desegregation order.
Board President Brenda Johnson called the meeting to order, with Vice President Thomas M. Dowd, Secretary Renee P. Jones, Assistant Secretary John C. Wilkes and member Jacqueline Steele present.
