The morning of January 10, 1975, began as an unseasonably warm, humid, and gloomy winter’s day. At 7:30 a.m., a school bus loaded with energetic and loud third graders departed Otken Elementary in McComb. I rode near the back of the bus wearing a light windbreaker and quietly hummed Elvis Presley songs. My dad, a huge Elvis fan, had bought most of the King’s 45s as a teenager. He packed them away after marriage until I found them and endlessly played his Sun and RCA label records on my portable box turntable.

Earlier this year, colleges in no income tax states used that as a selling point when trying to snag players in the transfer portal. Mississippi lawmakers say the Magnolia State needs to remain competitive in that arena.
In this new era of college football so heavily focused on the almighty dollar, schools in states with no income tax have sought to use that to their benefit when recruiting players.

Below is a political opinion column by Roger Wicker:
U.S. Senator Roger Wicker carries peace through strength message to Europe.
The tyrants in China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran are on the move, and their aggression makes at least one thing clear: America needs strong, reliable friends. In February, I traveled to Europe to bring a message to our most important allies. In this increasingly dangerous world, the nations of Europe and North America must stand united.

PERKINSTON, Miss. — Showdowns between Pearl River and Gulf Coast rarely follow a script, and Monday night was no different as the Wildcats erased an early deficit to storm back and beat the Bulldogs 79-70 in the regular-season finale.
"We're not afraid of any matchup. We've talked about those tough moments throughout the year. We still had some tough moments that we have to learn from and build on. We have to try to win four more in a row."

Dr. Leana S. Wen, an emergency physician and clinical associate professor at George Washington University, believes Kennedy, the Health and Human Services secretary, may seek the removal of “aluminum salts” from vaccines. I'll never forget the first time I cast my ballot in an election. That would have been 1975 when I voted for Republican Gil Carmichael, who ran against Democrat Cliff Finch for governor. I'm sad to say my candidate lost, but I don't remember Mr. Carmichael shouting that the reason he lost was because of voter fraud.
