Winona Police Department Offers Ride Assistance for Healthcare Workers During Winter Storm
Winona, MS - Due to the ongoing winter storm and deteriorating road conditions, the Winona Police Department is announcing ride assistance for essential healthcare workers who must report to work at local hospitals and nursing homes.
This assistance is available only to healthcare workers who reside within Winona city limits.
Chief Roshaun Daniels stated, "Our healthcare workers are critical to the safety and well-being of our community, especially during severe weather events. The Winona Police Department, in coordination with emergency management, is committed to helping to ensure they can safely get to and from work during this storm.
"Healthcare workers who live within the city limits and need transportation assistance should contact the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) at 662-283-1121 to request help.
As road conditions continue to worsen, the Winona Police Department urges all residents to refrain from unnecessary travel. Driving during these hazardous conditions increases the risk of accidents and places additional strain on first responders and road crews who are already working in dangerous conditions.
"We ask everyone to stay off the roadways, if at all possible,” Chief Daniels added. “This will help reduce accidents and allow emergency personnel and road crews to focus on those who truly need assistance. The Winona Police Department will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as needed.
