On Wednesday, August 27, at approximately 8:59 a.m., Winona Police Department arrested 39-year-old Adrian Sanders of Winona on charges of Aggravated Assault and Possession of Firearm by a felon, after a traffic stop was made on Hwy 407 near Academy Street.
According to Winona Chief of Police Roshaun Daniels, these charges are in connection to a shooting that took place Saturday, August 23, at Robin Hood convenience store on South Church Street. Sanders suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his leg. Multiple shell casings from a 9mm handgun were recovered at the scene.
A 9mm was found in Sanders’ vehicle during the Wednesday traffic stop. Sanders is currently being held at the Carroll County Jail where he awaits his initial appearance. Sanders is also being held by the Mississippi Department of Correction for parole violation.
