Two Carroll County residents have qualified for the upcoming school board election that will be held Nov. 6. Circuit Clerk Durward Stanton said Beat 3 incumbent Daniel Vest and Beat 4 resident John L. Phillips have qualified in the upcoming election. Beats 3 and 4 are the only seats on the ballot this election.
Vest currently serves on the board and has served on the board since 2013. Phillips is running for the seat of current board member Laura Norwood-Davis, who has said earlier this year she is not seeking re-election.
Stanton said qualifying ends at 5 p.m. Friday.
“I would encourage any potential candidates to turn it in early if problem chance to correct instead of turning it in at the midnight hour with no chance to correct it,” Stanton said. “I’d like to remind any potential candidates there are signatures required, they must have signatures from 50 active registered voters from within their beats.”
Anyone who still wants to qualify for the race can pick up information from Stanton’s office in Vaiden.
