Friday, the seniors at J.Z. George High School will walk the campus one last time, moving from high school students and transitioning into young adults who will go on to do great things. At the top of this year’s graduating class is Kennedy Johnson of Vaiden and Jacarra Sherrod of Carrollton.
Johnson is the daughter of Casey and Theresa Johnson. While a students at J.Z. George High, Johnson was a member of the basketball team, cheer, volleyball, and a member of the Beta Club. Johnson said she also was a member of the track team her ninth and tenth grade years.
“I have a lot of fond memories with my classmates while learning. They are very hilarious. I’m going to miss traveling and playing different sports and going to see the different schools. I’m going to miss the teachers; can’t forget about them. A lot of the staff really, the custodian – that was my lady,” she said. Johnson said after leaving J.Z. George, she plans to attend Mississippi State University and major in computer science.
Johnson finishes J.Z. George with a 4.0.
Jacarra Sherrod of Carrollton has been named as the salutatorian of J.Z. George High School. Sherrod is the daughter of Jack and Carolyn Sherrod. She said as a student at JZG, she was a member of the cheer team, played basketball and she was a member of Beta Club.
“I’m going to miss the people and the environment, yeah that’s pretty much it,” she said. Sherrod said after she leaves JZG, she wants to attend a community college and major in radiology.
She finishes with a 3.96.
