A Carrollton man is in the Carroll Montgomery Regional Correctional Facility on multiple felony charges.
Sidney Ross Taylor Jr., 51, is accused of throwing rocks at and shooting into two homes along with shooting two vehicles, according to a statement released by Carroll County Sheriff Clint Walker.
Carroll County deputies were dispatched to County Road 130 in the Teoc area on July 16 for a report of a possible residential burglary. Deputies discovered two residences had been shot with a high-powered rifle multiple times along with two vehicles, according to Walker.
“Strangely, a lot of rocks and debris were thrown into both residences, causing massive amounts of damage,” stated the release.
Deputies deployed Carroll County SO’s K9 Nyla to trail the scent of the perpetrator who was believed to be in the woods. Nyla began to follow the suspect along a trail through the woods leading to the residence of Sidney Taylor, the release stated.
After further investigation Carroll County deputies took Sidney Ross Taylor Jr., 51, into custody and booked him into the Carroll Montgomery Regional Correctional Facility (CMRCF).
“He was charged with four counts of malicious mischief -- felony, two counts of shooting into an occupied dwelling and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon,” the release stated.
Judge Ronnie Hicks denied bond because of the violent nature of the crime and because Taylor was already on house arrest for drug charges in Carroll County at the time of the shooting.
Walker congratulated Nyla on a successful run by giving her a cold bottle of water.
