Vaiden preparing for Heritage Festival May 1

The Town of Vaiden is preparing for its annual Vaiden Heritage Festival, to be held on Saturday, May 1.
Mayor Mel Hawthorne said the festival, which was originally scheduled for October, was postponed because of COVID-19 restrictions. The festival will be held from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. in downtown Vaiden.

County to receive $1.9M from stimulus

The Carroll County Board of Supervisors will receive $1.9 million from the American Rescue Plan Act. Chancery Clerk Casey Carpenter said he spoke with the state auditor’s office and said they don’t know the specifics of the restrictions on how the money is going to be spent.

Two to face grand jury

Two Winona men were bound over to the action of a Montgomery County Grand Jury. Deonte Cortez Peeples was charged with burglary, and Jaquavious Forrest charged with malicious mischief in separate cases. Both men went before Judge Alan D. Lancaster on March 25 in Winona Municipal Court.
