Constitution Week in Carroll County

The celebration of Constitution Week began when the National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution in 1955 petitioned Congress to set aside September 17 through 23 annually to be dedicated for the observance of Constitution Week. The resolution was adopted by the U.S. Congress and signed into law on August 2, 1956.

In 2022, Joe Townsend coauthored the historical fiction novel Out of Texas with cousin Anne Hart Preus. The story was based on the historical feud between the Baltzell and Brantley families during the mid-1800s. The setting was mainly the new town of Winona, the now-abandoned hamlet of Greensboro, Mississippi.

At the September meeting of the North Carrollton Mayor and Board of Alderman meeting last Tuesday, Alderman Tom Hearn was presented a proclamation from the town of North Carrollton in recognition of his retirement from his business Tom’s Tire Repair which began business in 1981 in North Carrollton.
