The Winona Christian boys picked up two more wins last week, including a big district win over Oak Hill.
The Stars used a big fourth-period comeback to take a 48-43 win over the Raiders on Thursday. They also beat Humphreys Academy 49-39 on Monday to start the week.
The Lady Stars split a pair of games as they beat Humphreys 36-25 before falling 53-27 to Oak Hill.
Winona will return to play this week as they play at Winston on Tuesday and then host Canton on Thursday.
The Stars improved to 11-2 on the season and would be district champions with a pair of wins this week.
Winona Christian boys 48, Oak Hill 43
The Stars picked up a big road win on Thursday as they used a big fourth-period comeback to take a five-point win over the Raiders.
Oak Hill started strong in each half as they led 19-9 at the end of the first. Winona then doubled up Oak Hill and outscored the Raiders 12-6 in the fourth to cut the lead to 25-21 at the half. Oak Hill took the third period 9-5 to carry a 34-26 lead into the fourth. But Winona Christian stormed back and outscored Oak Hill 22-9 in the fourth to take the win.
“That was a big win for our boys,” WCS coach Joey Johnson said. “That gives us a chance to play for a district championship against Oak Hill.”
Zack Bledsoe led Winona Christian with 21 points, including 12 points win the fourth. Austin Horne had 14 points while Braxton Leach had seven points and Brannon Hill chipped in six points.
Oak Hill girls 53, Winona Christian 27
The Lady Raiders outscored the Lady Stars in every game as they cruised to a 26-point win.
Oak Hill jumped out to a 15-3 lead in the first and led 29-13 at the half. Oak Hill continued to extend its lead in the second half, outscoring Winona 12-4 in the third and 12-10 in the fourth.
Allie Leach led Winona Christian with 12 points.
Winona Christian boys 49, Humphreys 39
The Stars pulled away in the second half and took a 10-point win over the Rebels on Monday.
Winona Christian led 13-8 at the end of the first before the Rebels outscored the Stars 12-9 to cut the lead to 22-20 at the half. The Stars then pulled away in the fourth and outscored the Rebels 14-12 in the third and 13-7 in the fourth.
Zack Bledsoe led Winona with 13 points, six rebounds and five steals while Austin Horne had a double-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. Braxton Leach had nine points, seven rebounds and four assists while Will Irwin had seven points. Brannon Hill had six points and pulled down eight rebounds.
Winona Christian girls 36, Humphreys 25
The Lady Stars finished strong and took an 11-point win over the Lady Rebels on Monday.
Humphreys led 8-4 at the end of the first before Winona Christian outscored the Lady Rebels 10-4 to take a 14-12 lead at the half. Humphreys took the third period 10-9 to cut the lead to 23-22 before Winona Christian pulled away by outscoring the Lady Rebels 13-3 to take the win.
Maly Lott led Winona Christian with 15 points while Maliana Kuhn, Allie Leach and T.C. Cain each had seven points.
