Winona lost a Region 2-2A doubleheader to Bruce, falling 7-0 in the opener and 12-8 in the nightcap. The Tigers are 0-4 in region play and 3-9 overall.
“We got down in the second game, but we just kept battling,” said Coach Mark Austin.
Winona fell behind 10-4 after three innings, but was able to cut the deficit to 11-8 entering the final inning. Mitch Stewart had a double and two singles, drove in two runs and scored once. Nick Murphy had a single and two walks and scored twice.
The Tigers have a 2-2A doubleheader with Leflore County Friday, beginning at 5 p.m. and will be at Winston Academy Saturday.
