The Winona Christian basketball teams picked up a much-needed sweep of Tri-County Academy last week. The Stars jumped out to a big lead and held on to take a 57-53 lead while the Lady Stars cruised to a 47-31 win.
Winona Christian split with Nanih Waiya as the Lady Stars won 48-23 and the Stars dropped a 54-40 game to the Warriors.
In other action, Winona Christian lost both games to Carroll Academy last week as well.
Both Winona teams will take a break from action and return to play on Dec. 27 as they play in the Columbus Christian Tournament.

Tri-County 31
The Lady Stars used a big second period to take a 16-point win over the Lady Rebels last week.
After each team scored nine points in the first period, Winona Christian outscored Tri-County 21-4 to take a 30-13 lead at the half. Winona outscored Tri-County 9-6 in the third and led 39-19 going into the fourth.
Elise Diffey led Winona with 19 points while Bella Roberts had 11 and Jada Mims added eight. Sara Beth White also had five points.
In the JV game, the Lady Stars won 39-18 as Bella Roberts scored 29 points.

Tri-County 53
The Stars jumped out to a big lead in the first period and held on to take a four-point win over the Rebels.
The Stars started quick and led 15-3 at the end of the first and 31-20 at the half. Tri-County got back into the game in the third as they outscored Winona 18-11 to cut the lead to 42-38 going into the fourth.
Reed Roberts led Winona with 18 points while Latham Hill had 16 points and Zack Bailey added 12 points.

Winona Christian 40
The Warriors used a big first half to jump out and beat Winona Christian on Friday.
The Warriors led 13-9 at the end of the first and outscored the Stars 14-6 in the second to lead 27-15 at the half. The Warriors extended the lead to 39-25 at the end of the third as each team scored 15 points in the fourth.
Latham Hill led the Stars with 22 points while Dalton Wiggins added six points.

After a tight first half, the Lady Stars pulled away in the second half to take a 25-point win.
Nanih Waiya led 8-7 at the end of the first but Winona Christian led 16-12 at the half. The Lady Stars pulled away in the second half, outscoring the Lady Warriors 15-1 in the third and 17-10 in the fourth.
Sara Beth White led the Lady Stars with 16 points while Bella Roberts had 10 points and Elise Diffey In the JV game, the Lady Stars won 24-18 as Bella Roberts scored 10 points and Olivia Brooks had six points.
