The Winona Christian Stars won three out of four games during spring break last week.
The Stars took a pair of blowout wins on Tuesday, beating Riverside 16-0 and Yazoo City 10-0. On Wednesday, the Stars lost 7-3 to East Rankin but bounced back and beat the Patriots 6-3 in the second game of a doubleheader.
Winona Christian is now 8-3 on the season and were scheduled to open district play with Indianola this week. Those games have been postponed until further notice.
WCS 16, Riverside 0
The Stars banged out 11 hits and threw three no-hit innings in a shutout win over Riverside on Tuesday in Vicksburg.
Winona scored six in the second and 10 in the third inning John White was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs while Latham Hill was 2-for-2 with a triple and two RBIs. Austin Winters was 2-for-3 with a double and four RBIs. Dalton Wiggins had a double and scored two runs while Hayden Self and Morgan Nance singled and scored two runs. Reed Roberts tripled, scored two runs and had two RBIs.
White started on the mound and pitched three perfect innings in 39 pitched and struck out six.
WCS 10, Yazoo City 0
The Stars again needed only three innings to take a run-rule win over Yazoo City.
The Stars scored four runs in the first and second innings and two in the third.
Winona outhit Yazoo City 6-1and drew six walks. Reed Roberts was 2-for-3 with a double and four RBIs while Dalton Wiggins homered and had three RBIs. Choyce Diffey walked twice and scored twice while John White also scored twice. Latham Hill doubled and scored two runs while Steele Mims also had a double.
Diffey started on the mound and went two innings, giving up just one hit and striking out four while Conner Nail pitched one inning.
East Rankin 7, WCS 3
The Patriots jumped out to a 6-1 lead and took a time-limit win over the Stars on Wednesday at Vicksburg in the first game of a doubleheader.
East Rankin scored three in the first and second innings and one in the third. Winona scored one in the first and two in the third.
East Rankin outhit Winona 7-5 in the contest. Steele Mims was the only multiple Hitt, going 2-for-2 while Latham Hill had two RBIs. John White and Reed Roberts each singled and scored a run.
Roberts started and went one inning, giving up three runs on three hits while Mims pitched the second and gave up three unearned runs on two hits and three walks. Collin Parkinson pitched the third and gave up one run on two hits while Hayden Self finished the game for the Stars, getting the last two outs.
WCS 6, East Rankin 3
The Stars avenged an earlier loss and took a three-run win over the Patriots in the second game of a doubleheader on Wednesday.
East Rankin scored two in the top of the first before Winona answered with three in the bottom of the first and second innings. East added another run in the fourth.
Latham Hill was 2-for-2 with a double, triple and two RBIs. Reed Roberts, Choyce Diffey and Dalton Wiggins all singled, scored a run and had an RBI while Austin Winters singled and scored a run.
Latham Hill started and got the win as he pitched three innings and gave up two unearned runs on one hit and three walks while striking out four. Connor Nail pitched the last inning and gave up one unearned run while striking out two.
