The Winona Christian Stars split a pair of games last week and suffered their first loss of the season.
The Stars lost 7-5 to Ethel on Tuesday and bounced back to beat Delta Academy 12-1 on Thursday.
Winona Christian (3-1) will return to action on Tuesday as they host Ethel on Tuesday. They will travel to Jackson to the on the Victors on Thursday and will host Kirk on Friday.
Winona Christian 12, Delta Academy 1
The Stars jumped out quick and cruised to a 4 1/2 inning, run-rule victory over Delta.
Winona scored four in the first and five in the second to lead 9-0. The Stars added one in the third and two in the fourth while Delta scored one in the top of the fourth.
Winona had 11 hits in the contest as Corley Goss was 2-for-2 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBIs. Reed Roberts was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Latham Hill had a double and scored three runs while Blake Marlow had three RBIs. Dalton Wiggins had a double and scored two runs while Hayden Self, Mathew Rigby, Holland Ingram, Cade Marlow and Deuce Irwin each had singles and drove in a run.
John White got the start and pitched four innings, giving up one unearned run on two hits and one walk while striking out nine. Irwin pitched one inning and struck out four.
Ethel 7, Winona Christian 5
The Tigers scored three runs in the last two innings to take a come-from-behind win over the Stars on Tuesday.
The game was tied 1-1 after two innings before Ethel scored three runs in the third to go up 4-1. Winona then scored four runs in the top of the fifth to take a 5-4 lead. But Ethel answered with two runs in the bottom of the fifth and one in the sixth for the final margin.
Winona had just four hits in the contest as Latham Hill blasted three-run home run for the Stars. Corley Goss, Hayden Self and Reed Roberts each had singles and scored a run. Colby Marlow also had two walks.
Blake Marlow got the start and pitched three innings, giving up four unearned runs on two hits and two walks while striking out eight. Roberts pitched the final three innings, giving up three runs, only one earned, on five hits and a walk while striking out three.
