The Carroll Academy baseball season got off to a rough start on Monday with a 19-2 loss to Manchester Academy.
The Rebels managed only two hits in the game and committed four errors. On the mound, the Rebels struggled as they gave up 12 hits and 19 walks as Lofton Holly, Drew Thomas, Maddox Carpenter, Zach Downs and Crawford Holly all saw time.
At the plate, Dane Greenlee had a double and drove in a run while Gavin Wiltshire had Carroll’s other hit.
Carroll will make the return trip to Manchester on today and play at Greenville St. Joseph on Friday. Next week, the Rebels jump into district play as they travel to Central Holmes on Tuesday and host the Trojans on Thursday. Next Saturday, the Rebels will play at Clarksdale Lee on Saturday.
