The Carroll Academy Rebels post two big district wins this week in convincing fashion. The Rebels hammered Central Holmes 71-43 and then pounded Indianola 69-26.
The Lady Rebels split their two games last week, beating Indianola 34-28 but falling to Central Holmes 54-44.
Carroll will return to action this week in a pair of district contests as they host Oak Hill on Tuesday and travel to Indianola on Friday.
Carroll boys 71, Central Holmes 43
The Rebels had four double-digit scorers and took a 28-point win over the Trojans.
Each teams scored 15 points in the first period but Carroll got rolling in the second as they outscored Central Holmes 20-6 in the second to lead 35-21 at the half. The Rebels continued to extend the lead in the third, outscoring the Trojans 16-11 to lead 51-32. Carrol finished strong as they outscored Central Holmes 20-11 in the fourth for the final margin.
Reese Fulton led Carroll with 27 points and 13 rebounds while Logan Taylor had 15 points. Austin Smith had 11 points while Bryce Collier added 10 points.
Central Holmes girls 54, Carroll 44
The Lady Trojans jumped out early and took a 10-point win over the Lady Rebels in a key district contest.
Central Holmes doubled up Carroll in the first period, outscoring the Lady Rebels 14-7. Carroll took the second period 16-15 to cut the lead to 29-23 at the half. Central Holmes outscored Carroll 13-10 in the third to extend the lead to 42-33 going into the fourth. Central Holmes took the fourth 12-11 for the final margin.
Mary Jordan Milton led Central Holmes with 11 points and seven rebounds. Gracie Turner had 10 points and 14 rebounds while Dru Chamblee also had 10 points and two steals. Mary Lakyn Boutwell had 10 points while Lainey Claire Dunn had nine rebounds and two steals. Meri Brynn Reeves also had two steals.
Carroll boys 69, Indianola 26
The Rebels dominated the action as they took a 43-point win over the Colonels in district play.
Carroll outscored Indianola 21-9 in the first period and led 37-15 at the half. Carroll continued to extend its lead in the second half, outscoring Indianola 16-9 in the third and 16-2 in the fourth.
Reese Fulton led Carroll with 18 points and 12 rebounds while Austin Smith had 15 points and six rebounds. Logan Taylor also had 13 points for the Rebels.
Carroll girls 34, Indianola 28
The Lady Rebels overcame a first-period deficit to take a six-point win over the Lady Colonels.
Indianola led 11-4 at the end of the first and 13-11 at the half. Carroll took control in the second half, outscoring Indianola 13-7 in the third and 10-8 in the fourth.
Gracie Turner led Carroll with 14 points, eight rebounds and four steals. Dru Chamblee had eight points and six rebounds while Mary Jordan Milton had six points. Kaitlyn Chamblee also had five rebounds for the Lady Rebels.
