The Carroll Academy Rebels managed to get in a game over the spring break and lost a 6-4 decision to Calhoun Academy on Saturday.
The Rebels will return to action this week in non-district play as they will travel to Pillow on Tuesday and will host Benton on Friday. Monday’s game against Greenville St. Joseph was cancelled.
Calhoun 6, Carroll 4
Calhoun used a pair of two-run innings and took a two-run win over the Rebels on Saturday.
Calhoun scored two in the first and fifth and added one in the second and seventh. Carroll scored single runs in the first, third, fourth and fifth innings.
Carroll had seven hits but committed five errors in the field. Dane Greenlee had a single and double to lead the Rebels. Logan Taylor, Gavin Wiltshire and Brett Harper each singled and scored a run. James Neill and John Mare O’Cain each singled while Lofton Holly scored a run.
Maddox Carpenter got the start and pitched two innings, giving up three unearned runs on one hit and one walk while striking out two. Holly pitched the final five innings and gave up three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out six.
