Jalen Daniels and Tatyana Womack had always attended Montgomery County schools, until this year. The two basketball standouts are among Montgomery County High School students who transferred to Winona when the schools consolidated.
Neither was disappointed to leave their old school.
“I just want to graduate,” said Womack, a Winona senior after three years at Montgomery County.
Daniels, a junior, sees the change as a positive providing greater opportunities for students.
Each has blended in seamlessly with new teammates at Winona.
“She has made the transition well, probably better than me,” Winona girls coach Frank Miller said of Womack. “She has fit in with the other players.”
Miller also made the switch after coaching Montgomery County boys last year.
Daniels also has had no problems adjusting as the Tigers leading scorer with 15.7 points per game.
Womack starts in the backcourt for the Lady Tigers.
