Winona track had a full team for a practice meet with Choctaw County last week and Coach Chris McRae was pleased with the results.
“In practice meets, you never know what you are going to get. You really don't,” he said. “We had a lot of young kids step up and show what they can do. Our times are getting better every time we run.”
Because it was a practice meet, team scores were not kept.
Tyra Weathersby and Aasjahla Garron for the girls and AnDariuus Coffey and Adavion Hargrove for the boys are among team members who missed the Southaven Relays to attend a Black History Month program. They were on hand for the practice meet and did well in relays.
Weathersby finished second in the long jump and triple jump and seventh the 200 at last year’s 3A state meet. The long jump and triple jump were not held at the practice because the pits were wet.
Winona will host its first regular meet March 21. “We hope to put it all together on the 21st,” McRae said.
