A two-run homer by Sara Neely O'Bryant in the bottom of the seventh pulled Winona within a run of Bruce at 3-2 Monday but the Lady Tigers were unable to produce the equalizer.
“We couldn't do anything after that,” said coach Steven Helms.
Winona was shut out twice last week, 7-0 against Calhoun City and 11-0 against Eupora.
Helms said his team played better defensively against Bruce, but hitting remains a problem. “We're not hitting the ball. We're not putting it in play., We're not seeing the ball very well.”
The Lady Tigers had a rematch with Calhoun City Tuesday. They play Eupora Thursday and J.Z. George Friday.
Tigers
Mitch Stewart went three for three for Winona against Eupora Monday, but the rest of the team managed only one hit, a single by Jon Reuben Chesteen, in a 3-0 loss.
Tanner Knight went the distance for Eupora with 16 strikeouts.
The teams have a rematch at Eupora Friday.
