It was a rough week on the diamond for the Winona Christian Lady Stars as they dropped four games, getting shut out three times.
The Lady Stars opened the week with a 10-0 loss to Marshall Academy before losing three at the Carroll Tournament on Saturday. They lost 5-2 to Pillow, 5-0 to Magnolia Heights and 8-0 to Silliman.
The Lady Stars return to play this week against Carroll Academy on Monday and will host Central Holmes on Tuesday.
Marshall Academy 10, Winona Christian 0
The Lady Patriots had 14 hits and took a five-inning, run-rule win on Tuesday.
Marshall scored two in the first with four-run innings in the third and fifth.
Winona had just three hits with singles by Jada Mims, Harlee Whitten and Bella Roberts.
Pillow 5, Winona Christian 2
Pillow scored four runs in the first inning and took a four-inning, time-limit win.
Winona scored its two runs in the second and third innings.
The Lady Stars had five hits as Jada Mims, Madyson Leach and Bella Roberts each had doubles. Elise Diffey singled and scored while Mims also scored. Bella Roberts had WCS’s other single.
Sara Rawles pitched all four innings and gave up five runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out two.
Magnolia Heights 5, Winona Christian 0
The Lady Stars managed only one hit in a shut-out loss to Magnolia Heights.
Magnolia Heights scored its five runs in the third inning.
Kaylah Brooke Varnes had Winona’s only hit.
Sara Rawles got the start on the mound and pitched three innings give up five runs on seven hits and two walks.
Silliman 8, Winona Christian 0
The Lady Stars managed only two hits against Class AAA power Silliman on Saturday in the final game of the day at the Carroll Tournament.
Silliman scored two in the second and third and four in the second.
Kaylah Brook Varnes and Jada Mims had WCS’s hits.
