The J.Z. George girls and boys basketball teams both went 1-1 in games played Nov. 19 and Nov. 22.
The Lady Jaguars picked up a 44-24 win over Nanih Waiya last Tuesday, while the Jaguars did the same as they claimed a 68-57 victory in games played at Nanih Waiya.
In the girls game, J.Z. George jumped out to an 11-5 lead after the first period and stretched it to 25-13 at the half. A 13-4 run in the third gave J.Z. George a 38-17 cushion headed to the fourth period.
Senior guard Tashanda Fleming led the Lady Jags with 19 points. Sophomore Allyson Anderson had eight, and senior Jasmine Newman hit for six.
Three players scored in double figures in pacing the Jaguars past the Warriors. J.Z. George led 15-8 after the first period, 33-25 at the half and 49-32 after the third quarter.
Senior guard Malik Branch led J.Z. George with 18 points. Sophomore Jordun Normal pitched in 16, and sophomore forward D’Anthony McGlothan had 15 points. Junior Keldrick Glover had seven points.
McAdams High School took a pair of games from the Lady Jags and Jaguars last Friday night in North Carrollton.
McAdams won the girls game 44-35 as it led 10-8 after one, 22-16 at the half and 29-23 after the third period.
Fleming led J.Z. George (2-6) with 15 points. Newman had eight, and freshman Jakyla Winters notched seven points.
In the boys game, McAdams prevailed 60-56 as it held off a rally by the Jaguars in the fourth quarter. The game was tied at 32-32 at the half, and the Bulldogs led 45-38 after the third frame. The Jags held an 18-15 scoring advantage in the fourth to make it close at the end.
Branch led the Jaguars (3-5) with 16 points. McGlothan had 10, and Glover hit for nine.
