J.Z. George concluded its appearance in the Winona High School Tournament with a sweep of Eupora High School Saturday in Winona.
The Jaguars placed five players in double figures en route to a 75-51 win over the Eagles to up their record to 3-7.
J.Z. George held slim leads of 17-13 after the first period and 31-25 at the half but a 35-9 run in the third gave the Jaguars a comfortable 66-34 advantage headed to the fourth frame.
Malik Branch led the Jags with 27 points. Caesa Glenn had 17, and Devante Smith notched 11. Jordun Normal and Chris Rias had 10 points each.
The Lady Jags earned their second win of the season as they beat Eupora 51-46. They led 17-8 after one, 27-24 at the half and 36-35 after the third.
Tashanda Fleming had 35 points to pace J.Z. George (2-9), while Dekeria Walls had eight points. Tyesha Grant tacked on six.
J.Z. George played the host school on Friday night, and the Lady Tigers and Tigers came away with wins in both games.
The Lady Tigers won 45-20 as they led 13-7 after the first period, 26-12 at the half and 39-18 after the third frame.
Fleming led the Lady Jaguars with 12 points.
The Jaguars played well for three quarters as they only trailed 45-42 after the third but a 21-10 run by Winona in the fourth gave the home team a 66-52 victory.
Glenn had 20 points, and Branch tacked on 13 for the Jaguars.
In Thursday’s games, the Lady Jaguars dropped a 64-20 decision to Oxford, which led 22-4 after one, 37-14 at the half and 59-18 after the third.
Fleming led J.Z. George with 15 points.
The Jaguars lost 89-63 to the Chargers. Oxford led 28-6 after one, 44-19 at the half and 70-45 after the third.
Normal and Branch had 10 points apiece, and Glenn tacked on eight points.
In games from Dec. 4 at McAdams, the host school pulled off a sweep as the Lady Bulldogs won 71-42 and the Bulldogs beat the Jaguars 74-66.
In the girls game, McAdams jumped out to an 18-12 advantage after the first and led by at 33-23 by halftime. The Lady Bulldogs led 54-31 after the third.
Fleming had 17 for the Lady Jags, and Walls tacked on 14.
The McAdams boys held off a feisty Jaguar squad 74-66. McAdams led 18-17 after the first period and 38-28 at the half. The Bulldogs made it 53-41 after the third but J.Z. George outscored McAdams 25-21 in the fourth.
Branch had 22 points, and Glenn finished with 21. Rias tallied 12 points.
J.Z. George plays at home Friday against Humphreys County.
