J.Z. George's basketball schedule has taken a few hits the past week with inclement weather and other games having to be rescheduled.
J.Z. George was slated to play at Charleston High School Monday night in a makeup from Dec.10 because of the winter weather. It was rescheduled for Monday, but because of the severe weather in the forecast, it was canceled Monday afternoon. No makeup date has been announced.
Also, this Friday's home game against Amanda Elzy was moved up to Tuesday night.
The Lady Jaguars and Jaguars did get in one game each last week as they played at McAdams High School Friday night.
The Jaguars pulled out a thrilling 68-54 victory over McAdams. J.Z. George, 4-7 overall, put together a solid game as it led 16-12 after one, 33-24 at the half and 45-40 after the third period.
Malik Branch had a team-high 25 points, and Jordun Normal tossed in 18. D’Anthony McGlothan tallied 11 points, and Alex Chris had seven points.
In the girls game, McAdams won 63-49 as it led 16-6 after one, 33-21 at the half and 45-33 after the third period.
Jakayla Winters led the Lady Jags with 17 points, and Jasmine Newman had 15 points. Alyson Anderson chipped in seven.
J.Z. George will participate in the Humphreys County Tournament Dec. 27-28 in Belzoni.
