Carroll Academy got its first baseball win of the season last week as the Rebels run-ruled Greenville St. Joseph.
The Rebels banged out 10 hits and got some solid pitching as they took a 13-3 win over the Irish.
Each team scored two runs in the first inning and Carroll scored three in the third to go up 5-2. St. Joseph scored one in the fourth to cut the lead to 5-3. The Rebels then put the game away with eight runs in the fifth inning and won by the run rule.
Dane Greenlee was solid on the mound as he picked up his first win of the season. Greenlee pitched all five innings and gave up three one with only one earned. He gave up two hits and two walks while striking out five.
At the plate, Gavin Wiltshire had three hits including a triple. Maddox Carpenter had a pair of doubles while Logan Taylor and Greenlee each had two hits, including a double. Crawford Holly also had a double.
The Rebels returned to action this week with district play in a two-game series against Central Holmes. The Rebels hosted Central Holmes on Tuesday and will travel to the Trojans on Thursday. The Rebels are also scheduled to play at Benton on Saturday.
Next week, Carroll will travel to Lee on Monday and will host Calhoun on Saturday, March 16.
