Five members of the Winona football team have received all state honors from the Mississippi Association of Coaches.
Senior center Laderrious Davis and senior defensive back Davandre Bays were named to the Class 3A first team, while seniors Jalen Campbell, Garrett Ables and Jay Lofton were chosen for the second team, Campbell at linebacker, Ables at strong safety and Lofton as a kick returner.
Campbell was previously named Overall MVP for Region 5-3A. Lofton was Offensive MVP for the region, Bays was Best Defensive Back and Davis was first team all region.
Davis spearheaded the offensive line that paved the wave for a Tiger offense that averaged 378 yards per game, 275 on the ground.
Bays had 34 tackles, eight interceptions and a fumble recovery. He has been chosen for the North/South All Star Game that will be played Saturday at Gulfport High School.
Campbell led the Tigers with 114 tackles, 24 for losses. He also carried 30 times for 256 yards and eight touchdowns.
Ables had 58 tackles with four for losses and two interceptions.
Lofton excelled as a runner, receiver and kick returner. He carried 111 times for 978 yards and 16 touchdowns, caught 36 passes for 598 yards and eight TDs, returned five kickoffs for 162 yards and 13 punts for 109 yards.
In its first year as a 3A school, Winona finished 13-1, won 5-3A and reached the 3A quarterfinals.
