Winona Christian’s Shaw Ferguson recently participated in the Class AA State tournament which was held at Frenchman’s Bend Golf Course in Monroe, La.
Ferguson shot an 89 to finish tied for fifth in the individual play.
“It was a very long course,” WCS golf coach Larry Davis said. “The best score shot in individual play was an 81. It was a tough course. Two of the players who qualified ahead of Shaw also qualified in the team play. I was shocked when we found out that he was playing. It was a really long course. They really backed them up. I played with him on Monday and I didn’t reach any of the par 4s.”
Ferguson finished sixth in the Class AA North State tournament with a score of 82.
