The Carroll Academy basketball teams finished out the regular season with a pair of blowout wins last week in their only action.
The Lady Rebels hammered Sharkey-Issaquena 61-29 while the Rebels took a 68-47 win over the Confederates.
The District 2-3A Tournament begins this week at Carroll Academy. The Lady Rebels are the No. 2 seed and will play Oak Hill on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. The Rebels are also the No. 2 seed and will take on Winona Christian at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. The girls’ championship game will be Saturday at 3:30 p.m. while the boys championship game is scheduled to start at 4:45 p.m.
Carroll boys 68, Sharkey-Issaquena 47
The Rebels put three players into double figures as they took a 21-point win over the Confederates on Tuesday and improve to 15-2 on the season.
Carroll started fast as they jumped out to a 25-10 lead in the first period. Sharkey outscored Carroll 18-12 in the second to cut the lead to 37-28 at the half. Carroll then put the game away in the third period as they outscored Sharkey 19-3 to take a 56-31 lead into the fourth.
Reese Fulton had another double-double with 24 points and 17 rebounds while Logan Taylor had 17 points and six steals. Austin Smith had 10 points and eight rebounds as well for the Rebels.
Carroll girls 61, Sharkey-Issaquena 29
The Lady Rebels started quick and cruised to a 32-point win to finish the regular season.
Carroll jumped out to a 20-5 lead in the first period and outscored Sharkey 12-7 in the second to lead 32-12 at the half. Sharkey outscored Carroll 15-13 in the third before the Lady Rebels finished by outscoring Sharkey 16-2 in the fourth.
Gracie Turner had a season-high 27 points, 10 rebounds, three steals and three blocks. Dru Chamblee had 14 points and three steals while Lainey Claire Dunn had 12 points, six blocks and three steals. Mary Jordan Milton also had 10 rebounds.
