Carroll Academy boys coach Tommy Acy knew his team would be challenged at Oak Hill last week.
Acy was right as the Raiders handed the Rebels their first district loss with a 60-42 loss. The Lady Rebels also fell in a 37-35 contest.
Both teams bounced back on Friday as they traveled to Decatur and swept a pair of games from Newton County Academy. The Lady Rebels won 49-31 while the Rebels took a 62-31 win.
Carroll will return to action this week as they travel to Sharkey Issaquena on Monday and go to Central Holmes on Tuesday. On Friday, Carroll will return home for the first time in more than a month as they host Indianola.
Carroll girls 49, NCA 31
The Lady Rebels jumped out to a 10-point win and held that margin to take an 18-point win over the Lady Generals on Friday.
NCA started quick and led 14-4 at the end of the first and 22-8 at the half. Carroll outscored NCA 12-10 in the third while each team scored 15 points in the fourth.
Gracie Turner led Carroll with 20 points, 10 rebounds and four steals. Dru Chamblee had eight points, eight rebounds four steals, while Mary Lakyn Boutwell had seven points. Brynn Reeves also pulled down five rebounds as well for the Lady Rebels.
Carroll boys 62, NCA 31
The Rebels used a steady supply of offense as they took a 31-point win over the Generals.
Carroll jumped out to a quick 14-2 lead at the end of the first and led 29-10 at the half. NCA outscored Carroll 14-13 in the third but the Rebels took fourth period 20-7 for the final margin.
Logan Taylor led Carroll with 18 points while Reese Fulton had 16 points and 12 rebounds. Hunter Grantham also chipped in 10 points.
Oak Hill girls 37, Carroll 35
Oak Hill just a pair of big periods and held on to take a two-point win over the Rebels.
Oak Hill led 12-8 at the end of the first and 23-20 at the half. The Lady Raiders pulled away in the third as they outscored Oak Hill 10-4 in the third to lead 33-24. Carroll finished strong by outscoring Oak Hill 11-4 for the final.
Gracie Turner led Carroll with 10 points and six rebounds while Mary Lakyn Boutwell had seven points and five rebounds. Kaitlyn Chamblee also had four steals.

The Raiders took a quick lead and held that advantage to take an 18-point win over the Rebels on Tuesday.
Oak Hill started fast and led 16- at the end of the first and 29-12 at the half. Carroll cut into that lead, outscoring Oak Hill 20-13 in the third as the Rebels trailed 42-32 going to the fourth. But Oak Hill outscored Carroll 18-10 in the fourth to take the win and hand Carroll its first district loss.
Reese Fulton led Carroll with 28 points and 14 rebounds while Austin Smith added six points.
