Carroll Academy opened up the New Year with a pair of big wins, sweeping rival Winona Christian on Friday.
The Lady Rebels opened the action with a 30-29 come-from-behind win over the Lady Stars while the Rebels flexed their muscles with a 61-40 win over the Stars.
Winona Christian will return to action this week as they hit the road for a pair of games. Winona was set to travel to Marshall on Tuesday and visit Oak Hill on Friday. They will host Lee, Ark., on Saturday to round out the week.
Carroll returns to action this week as the Rebels were set to host Oak Hill in another district contest on Tuesday and will travel to Kirk on Friday in a non-district contest.

The Rebels jumped out to a big lead and cruised to a 21-point win on Friday over rival Winona Christian.
The Rebels jumped out to a 19-5 lead in the first period and led 32-10 at the half. The Rebels outscored the Stars 15-14 in the third to take a 47-24 lead into the fourth. Winona outscored Carroll 16-14 in the fourth for the final margin.
Reese Fulton had another big night for the Rebels as he had 25 points and 14 rebounds. Austin Smith had 13 points and nine rebounds while Brett Harper had nine points.
Latham Hill led Winona with 10 points while Reed Roberts had nine points. Dalton Wiggins had seven points while Kyle Nabors added six points.

The Lady Rebels used a big fourth period to come back and beat WCS on Friday in a key division game.
Winona led 6-4 at the end of the first before Carroll outscored the Lady Stars 10-6 to lead 14-12 at the half. Winona then took the lead in third as they outscored Carroll 12-0 to take a 24-14 lead into the fourth.
Carroll then mounted a comeback as they outscored Winona 16-5 in the fourth to take the one point win.
Gracie Turner led Carroll with eight points while Katie Lauren Clark had six points. Sandy Rhea Tackett and Lanie Claire Dunn each had seven rebounds apiece while Belle Sanders had six steals in the contest.
