WCS earns district wins

The Winona Christian tennis team opened the season with a pair of wins, both in district play.

The Stars beat Oak Hill 5-4 and Marshall 6-3 and are 2-0 on the season.

Winona will return to action this week as they take on Oak Hill and Eupora.

Chesteen pitches pair of victories for Winona Tigers

A couple of strong pitching performances by Jon Reuben Chesteen resulted in Winona victories over Forest 7-4 and Morton 4-3. In between the two wins, the Tigers were defeated by Choctaw Central 11-4.

"Jon Reuben is throwing it well. He's giving us a chance to win," said Winona Head Baseball Coach Mark Austin.

2019 All-Crossroads Basketball Team

The 2019 All-Crossroads basketball team is heavy on underclassmen, featuring eight juniors, a sophomore and an eighth-grader on the 14-player team.

Seven boys and seven girls were chosen from nominations made by the various head coaches by Austin Bishop, sports editor of The Winona Times and The Conservative.
