Tigers defeat Eagles, 28-6, in home opener

Winona used a balanced offense to open the 2019 football season with a 28-6 victory over Eupora. Led by quarterback An'darius Coffey, the Tigers averaged nine and a half yards per play in amassing 234 yards on the ground and 165 through the air.

Lady Stars earn big wins against CHCS, CA

The Winona Christian Lady Stars grabbed a pair of big district fast-pitch softball wins last week.

The Lady Stars took a big 9-8 win over Central Holmes on Monday and then beat Carroll 16-5 on Tuesday.

On Saturday, Winona played in the Bayou Tournament, falling 5-0 to Lee Academy, 7-5 to Central Holmes and 10-0 to Bayou.

Rebels roll past rival Kirk Academy, 37-7

The season didn’t start the way that Carroll Academy football Coach Bo Milton had hoped. But the Rebels closed out the season opener with Kirk Academy the way that Milton thought they would.

The Rebels fell behind early but then scored 37 unanswered points to take a 37-7 win over rival Kirk on Friday.

Lady Tigers take big win

The Winona slow-pitch softball team dropped four games last week, but ended the week on a high note with a 12-2 win over Riverside. The Lady Tigers were beaten by Houston 12-2, Eupora 12-1, Ethel 11-3 and Vicksburg 6-1.
