The Winona slow-pitch softball team dropped four games last week, but ended the week on a high note with a 12-2 win over Riverside. The Lady Tigers were beaten by Houston 12-2, Eupora 12-1, Ethel 11-3 and Vicksburg 6-1.
Coach Michael Cox said his team was shaky at the beginning of the week, but played much better against Ethel despite letting the game get away at the end. “We are improving a little every day. We just have to keep working on fundamentals and get the bats going.”
In the win over Riverside, Katy Kendall Ware, Allyn Claire Gant and McKenzie Ragland each had three hits for the Lady Tigers. Gant had four RBIs, Ragland had three and Sara Winters two.
Gant had two hits against Houston and three in the Ethel game. Madison Mills had two hits against Houston, while Ragland, Gracie Cordell and Kylee Russel each had two hits and an RBI in the Ethel game.
Winona played Hamilton Tuesday and has a home game with Eupora Thursday and a road game with Shannon Saturday.
