The J.Z. George High School girls power-lifting team will be sending six to the North State meet on March 8 at Water Valley after a successful showing at the Region 2-2A meet last Friday at East Union High School.
The Lady Jags are in their first year to have a power-lifting team. They are coached by Dustin Alford, who is the head football coach, and Mariah Alford, who is serving as an assistant coach.
The girls finished third in the team results, just one point from second place. Alford had one girl, Trinity McCaskill, place first in her weight class, 165 pounds. Finishing second with their weight class are Jekeria Amos (242), Abbygail Clardy (220), Alaysha Bouldon (181) and Kyndale Edwards (123). Ta’Mya Robinson was third in the 148-pound class.
The J.Z. George boys will be sending Josh Fleming to North State as he was third in the 132-pound class.
