Blessings for All, Empowered by Faith, Inc. is installing smoke detectors into homes throughout Montgomery and Carroll counties.
“We’ve installed approximately 100 in 47 homes,” she said. The organization is working to install smoke detectors in homes in Montgomery and Carroll counties, Woods said.
“For two weeks, we’ll be in Vaiden and Duck Hill installing smoke detectors,” she said. Woods said the organization has been installing smoke detectors for four years and have installed more than 400 smoke detectors.
“I didn’t even realize that,” Woods said.
She said people may not realize it, but the detectors that have been installed make a difference.
“They did a story on us a while back,” she said. “One of the Forrest brothers’ house burned, and we had just installed smoke detectors a few months before the fire. He said he heard that fire detector, and that’s how he was able to get out. People may not think it does, but it makes a difference. It’s needed and it’s effective.”
Recently, Woods won the 2022 North Mississippi Chapter Red Cross DCS Volunteer of the Year. The work she does is never about her but the people that she tirelessly and selflessly continues to serve – rather alongside them or to help them.
“It was for all of our volunteers, it was really nice,” Woods said.
