Carroll Montgomery Regional Correctional Facility (CMRCF) officers foiled a plan to bring contraband into the jail on Tuesday.
CMRCF officers discovered a package containing contraband during a routine security check at the facility, according to a statement released by Carroll County Sheriff Clint Walker.
“The package had obviously been placed in an area so that it could be introduced into the facility, but thankfully, was intercepted by officers,” the release stated.
The lot contained four cell phones, 65 ounces of vodka, six pieces of yellow paper appearing to be spice, four ounces of spice, eight ounces of marijuana, 20 packages of Wild Hemp wrapping papers, 10 chargers, two Bluetooth headphones, one digital scale, six cigarette lighters, 20 miniature containers of super glue and 20 Black & Mild cigars, according to Walker.
Walker congratulated Warden Brandon Smith on his officers’ diligence to conduct security sweeps.
“I appreciate the job that is being done at CMRCF. The safety of our staff and inmates is in jeopardy any time contraband finds its way in. It will not be tolerated at all,” said Walker. “We will continue to investigate the origins of the package and will prosecute anyone who is involved in introducing contraband into our facility to the fullest extent of the law.”
