George Leslie “Lightning” Lester Jr., 82, passed away at Grenada Living Center in Grenada on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. He was born in Grenada County on July 9, 1941, to George Leslie and Jimmie Marie Carter Lester. He was a lifelong resident of Winona and was a retired truck driver and employee of Montgomery County. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Winona.
Mr. Lester is survived by four sisters, Evelyn Dowdle of Fla., Carolyn Alexander of Jackson, Judy Bennett of Winona, and Margaret Simpson of Coffeeville; and a host nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Kathleen Long and Lula Mae Gilbert; and two brothers, Bobby Lester and Gerald Lester.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
