CHRISTIAN WORD FOR THE DAY
In these last days ALL professing Christians are admonished to be diligent in making our calling and election sure (2 Peter 1:10). Sadly, there are many false professors “having a form of godlinesses, but denying the power thereof…”
According to the Apostle Paul, these false professors deny the TRUE power of godliness by their overwhelming conformity to the ungodly behaviors described in 2 Timothy 3:1-5, and TRUE Christians are instructed: “from such turn away.”
This painstaking work of “making our calling and election sure” is SO important because according to the Lord Jesus Christ Himself, many self-professed Christians are self-deluded and will receive a rude awakening from Him on that GREAT DAY when He returns to judge the whole world (Matthew 7:21-23).
Therefore, to help avoid self-delusion, each of us who profess to know Christ and believe that we are relationally known of Him should seriously ask ourselves, “Do I truly know, love, obey, and honor Christ—or do I only honor Him with my lips, but my heart is far from Him?” (Matthew 15:8-9)
